Abstract

This study explores the impact of an International Service Learning (ISL program in Kampung Jawa, focusing on environmental awareness, economic empowerment, and cultural preservation. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis involving 30 participants, including students and
community members. Findings revealed significant improvements, such as a 25% to 75% increase in waste separation practices, driven by educational workshops and community engagement. The program also promoted ecotourism and cultural preservation. However, challenges like limited recycling infrastructure and market access for recycled products were
identified. The study highlights the importance of integrating educational, economic, and cultural strategies in ISL programs for sustainable community development. It offers actionable recommendations, such as investing in infrastructure and fostering long-term partnerships, while suggesting future research on long-term impacts and cross-context comparisons.
