The International Journal of Critical Studies on Muslim Societies (IJCSMS) uses iThenticate originality checking software to detect similarities in submitted manuscripts and final versions of articles prior to publication.

A maximum similarity index of 25% is permitted. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold will be returned to the authors for revision and resubmission.

All submitted papers must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Any material taken verbatim from other sources must be clearly identified through:

  1. Indentation
  2. Use of quotation marks
  3. Proper citation of the original source

Any text exceeding fair use standards (defined as more than two or three sentences) or any reproduced graphic material requires permission from the copyright holder and proper acknowledgment of the original source.

Plagiarism Handling Policy

In cases where plagiarism is detected, the Editor-in-Chief will determine appropriate actions based on the severity of the violation, as outlined below:

Minor Plagiarism
A small portion of text (e.g., a sentence or short paragraph) is used without proper citation, with no significant data or ideas taken.
Action: The author will receive a warning and be required to revise the manuscript and properly cite the original sources.

Intermediate Plagiarism
A significant portion of text, data, or ideas is used without proper citation.
Action: The manuscript will be rejected.

Severe Plagiarism
A substantial portion of the manuscript is plagiarized, including reproduction of original results, data, methods, or ideas from other publications.
Action: The manuscript will be rejected, and the authors will be prohibited from submitting future manuscripts to the journal.
